1969 THE FOUNDING YEAR
1969 Arthur W. Stähli founded the company A.W. Stähli in Pieterlen.
At the beginning, the company had 2 employees and
performed contract work.
1977 CONVERSION TO A PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANY
1977 the conversion to A.W. Stähli AG and the new
construction of the company building in Pieterlen followed.
1977 SUBSIDIARY IN GERMANY OPENED
This was followed in the same year by the founding of
STÄHLI Läpp-Technik GmbH in Schönaich as the agency
for Germany in the area of contract work and sale of machinery.The agency could be upgraded in 1994 and equipped with 2-wheel flat honing technology.
1981 CONTRACT MACHINING CENTRE WINTERTHUR
1981 A.W. Stähli opened the contract machining
centre in Winterthur for support
of the main contract machining centre in Pieterlen.
1987 EXPANSION OF PIETERLEN ORIGINAL COMPANY BUILDING
1987 the expansion was carried out and as a result the
doubling of the operation area in the Pieterlen headquarters.
1989 LAUNCH OF DLM 600/900
1989 was the start of the 2-wheel DLM 600/900 machines.
1991 FIRST DIAMOND WHEEL
1991 the first DLM machine was equipped with
a diamond wheel. The flat honing started
with this: "the clean lapping".
1996 FOUNDING OF SUBSIDIARY IN NORTH AMERICA
1996 the subsidiary STAHLI USA Inc. in Wauconda,
Chicago was founded as sales support point and
service organisation for North America.
1996 TAKEOVER OF THE HAHN + KOLB DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS
At the same time, A.W. Stähli AG acquired the
production and distribution rights for the 2-wheel lapping and
polishing machines from Hahn & Kolb.
The Stähli Group now calls these machines ZL machines.
1996 FLM 4000-P
Also in 1996, A.W. Stähli AG realised the largest project to date,
an FLM 4000-P with pitch polishing wheels.
1997 TAKEOVER OF THE MYLÄP DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS
1997 A.W. Stähli AG was also able to acquire the production
and distribution rights of MYLÄP lapping,
cylindrical lapping and polishing machines.
2000 TRANSITION TO THE 2nd GENERATION
In 2000, A.W. Stähli AG passed on to the 2nd
generation Bernhard Stähli.
The company obtained a new logo at the same time.
2001 TAKEOVER OF THE COMPANIES LAPCO &
TECHNALAP BY STAHLI USA INC.
2001 Stahli USA Inc. was able to take over the companies Lapco
and Technalap and thus grow substantially.
2003 MARKET LAUNCH OF DLM SERIES
2003 was the start of the market launch of
the xx05 DLM series of the Stähli Group.
This series can impress with high stability, productivity,
ease of use, cost effectiveness, precision and reliability.
2004 DOUBLING OF PIETERLEN PRODUCTION AREA
2004 the extension construction at the Pieterlen headquarters was performed,
which doubled the production area.
2005 NAME CHANGE TO STÄHLI LÄPP TECHNIK AG
2005 the change of the name from A.W. Stähli AG
to Stähli Läpp-Technik AG was made. In the same year,
the first FLM 1000 completely automatic flat honing machine was delivered.
With this, the Stähli Group made the breakthrough
for flat honing on single-wheel machines.
2007 INCREASE OF THE USA SUBSIDIARY OPERATION AREA
2007 relocation of Stahli USA Inc. The operation area could
be increased with this and the research and development
centre could also be expanded.
2008 RELOCATION OF GERMANY SUBSIDIARY
2008 relocation of Stähli Läpp-Technik GmbH to the new company
building in Weil im Schönbuch (ISO 9001:2000 / certification since 2004).
2016 TODAY
2016 the Stahli Group has approx.
100 employeeswith locations in Switzerland (Pieterlen,
Winterthur),Germany (Weil im Schönbuch),
USA (Lake Zurich) and China (Xiamen).
